摘要:This paper is devoted to an overview of research and theoriesconcerning psychological processes leading to crime-relatedradicalization. It starts with a compact overview of groupprocesses in general and processes that contribute to crimerelatedradicalization in particular. Specifically, a threefactor model is suggested – the three horsemen of radicalization– that reflect the motivational level (Injustice), the cognitivelevel (Ideology) and a social level (Ingroup) of radicalizationwith a special focus on the Ingroup factor. It is proposedthat among other influences group polarization is oneeffect that may reflect the influence of an ingroup on extremeattitudes and behavior. Cognitive, motivational and structuralaspects fostering group polarization are described. Finally, factors that may prevent crime-related radicalization arediscussed.
