其他摘要:The paper deals with natural regeneration of two (A, B) 40-year-old fir monocultures, surrounded by the declining spruce stands on rich soils at the altitude of 310 m a.s.l. Age-analysis shows that mature fir trees produced seeds almost every year after the age of 30. Abundant seed crops were found in 2009 and 2013. Densities of fir seedlings in proximity to fir stands were 300,000/ha (A) and 70,000/ha (B), respectively. The seedlings density decreased nearly to zero in the distance about 20 (B), 40 (A) m. Soil preparations had a. significant effect on seedling emergence, but the effect on survival was found to be ambiguous. The analysis of canopy opening of spruce stands on fir emergence shows that the best condition was under spruce with reduced canopy (A-2). The 1-year-old seedlings density was lower in conditions without spruce cover (A-1) because of weed competition. The lowest 1-year-old seedlings density was found under spruce with full cover of canopy (A-3). In the same transects the densities of older fir seedlings decrease from 14,000 (A-1) and 7,300 (A-2), to 1,400 (A-3). We can recommend that for successful fir regeneration under spruce it is necessary to keep the canopy for at least 7–10 years.
