摘要：This paper analyses the relationship between the Gini coefficient and the marriage rate to find whether assortive mating may exist in USA. The author uses the panel data of 50 states in USA for 30 years to run a fixed state-effect model and a fixed time-effect model. The paper co ntains robustness check for the fixed effect model. The results provide strong evidence that the Gini coefficient has a negative effect on the marriage rate and the assortive mating may still exist in USA.
