  • 摘要:Nador lagoon "Marchica" is one of the largest lagoons in the Mediterranean Sea, with a surface area of about 115 km 2 , with an exceptional geo morpholo gy and biodiversity. The lagoon is located in north-eastern Morocco between 'cap tro is fourche' and 'cap de l'eau'. The lagoon has biological, ecological and economic interests and thus constitutes a major challenge for the development of the region. It is also a fragile and sensitive environment. Its decontaminatio n and durable protection is a priority and a prerequisite for the implementation of projects undertaken in the region. Uncontrolled discharges of domestic wastes and industrial effluents as well as raw sewage have stimulated the proliferation of algae, which causes oxygen consumption causing an imbalance in the ecosystem that tends towards eutrophication. Recently a new pass, wide and deep, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the lagoon Marchica was opened, allowing the renewal of the lagoon water throughout the basin. This new chan nel of 300 meters in width and 6.5 meters in depth improved the water quality of this aquatic ecosystem. Samples taken from the lagoon were studied using two approaches: a) Analysis of different physico-chemical parameters of the lagoon waters such as pH, co nductivity, dissolved oxygen, and nitrate content; b) The use of algae as bioindicators of pollution particularly the characterization of alg ae and the determination of chlorophyll and glucose content. The results obtained show that the plain of Bou Areg, a site polluted by nitrates and phosphates related to agricultural and industrial waste, contained high levels of nitrates. While in the site Mo handis, we found a net decrease in nitrate content and an increase in co ncentrations of dissolved O2, pH and the electrical conductivity. Finally, the new pass contributed significantly to the reduction of eutrophication of the lagoon by decreasing the total chlorophyll concentration and carbohydrates in Gra cilaria and Ulva species.
