  • 摘要:The composting is a natural degradation process of organic matter using micro -organisms. It turns out that this practice has economic and environmental advantages. In this study, the composting has been used to remove and recover the sludge from the wastewater treatment plant in the Nador city. The current compost quality requirement needs a large number of physical and chemical characterizations. The objective of this work is the assessment of the opportunities to improve the physical and chemical properties by working on different mixtures proportions on the basis of sewage sludge's compost. Our work aims also to highlight the effect of the compost use as a culture substrate on the growth and yield parameters for lettuce and leek. The addition of the compost has a beneficial effect on the physicochemical characteristics of the substrates. Adding 40% of the compost increases the porosity to 20%, and 50% respectively for soil and sand. The compost contributes also in the increase of the organic matter and adjusts the nitrogen content of the poor culture substrates. Regarding the use of compost as a total or partial substitute, it is important to mention the significant increases in production of fresh material for the aerial part of leek compared to TV. The evolution of the height and diameter of the lettuce apple and leek bulb is close to those of the peat when using the compost.
