In this paper we analyze three legends from Cuenca –“El cristo del pasadizo”, “El perro de la condesa” y “El abogado de Cuenca”– from a rethoric perspective . We have studied the resources and eulogy strategies that are displayed with the aim to praise the places and the people that they are referred to. Is is specially interesting the literary legend “El abogado de Cuenca”, because it is an unknown story written by José Joaquín de Mora and published in London in 1826, in the famous colection No me olvides . We have realized that the legendary tradition in Cuenca takes themes, motifs and chracters from other traditions, sometimes even just changing certain elements to make the story familiar, as it happens in “El Cristo del pasadizo ”.
