  • 摘要:The child is the most precious possession of mankind, most loved and perfect in its innocence. Childrenare to be cared and protected from environmental hazards. Accidents do not just happen; they are the result ofthoughtfulness, carelessness, neglect and momentary lack of concentration. The most common type of injuries occurfrom motor vehicle crashes and bicycle crashes which are seen in children below age group of 12. A descriptiveevaluative approach with quasi experimental one group pretest-posttest design was used.School going children’s(n=100) who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were selected by probability simple random method. Tools used werestructured questionnaire schedule to collect the demographic data and to assess the knowledge of road traffic accidentsamong school going children.Students were given a pretest followed by the teaching programme and a post test wasadministered 5-7th day. A group of 50 students were selected at a time for 30 minutes was selected for interventionprogramme. Data was tabulated and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.The finding revealed that inpre-test out of 100 sample ( 83% ) had inadequate knowledge on road traffic rules and regulation and (17%) hadmoderately adequate knowledge . After the structured teaching programme the post test results were, out of 100samples (99%) children had adequate knowledge and (1%) had moderate knowledge on road traffic accidents plannedteaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge to prevention of road traffic accidents among schoolgoing children and, have implication for nursing, community and to the teachers.
