  • 摘要:Birth weight is a critical determinant for survival in the neonatal period and for future growth anddevelopment of the newborn.. Low -birth weight (LBW) refers to all newborn whose weight at birth is less than 2500girrespective of the duration of gestation. The purpose of the study is to to assess the knowledge among mothers of lowbirth babies regarding the care of low birth weight before structured teaching programme. To assess the knowledgeamong mothers of low birth babies regarding the care of low birth weight after structured teaching programme. To findout the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge among mothers of low birth weight babies. Themethodology used in the study is Evaluate research approach and a pre experimental (one group pre test post testdesign) the study result concluded that the pre- test knowledge score is 11.5 and the post-test knowledge score is 16.5the obtained’ value 16.32 statistically significant at 0.001*** the mean difference of 5. It reveals that there wassignificant difference existing between pre-test and post-test knowledge score
