摘要：With increasing concern about the environmental, economic and social impact of chemical –dependentconventional agriculture, have led many farmers and consumers to seek alternative practices that will lead to greengrowth, agriculture profitability and livelihood sustainability. Increase in cost of production, inputs management etc areadding to the farmers fatigue. Another issue of great concern is the sustainability of soil productivity as land began tobe intensively tilled to produce higher yields under multiple and intensive cropping systems. Groundwater tabledeclined sharply. Recharging of groundwater has also been reduced due to severe deforestation. Indiscriminate use ofchemical pesticides to control various insect pests and diseases over the years has destroyed many naturally occurringeffective biological control agents.
