摘要:One of the most important aspects of design which can affect structure life and maintenance costs is thereduction or elimination of roadway expansion joints and associated expansion bearings. Integral bridges are bridgeswhere the superstructure is continuous and connected monolithically with the substructure with a moment-resistingconnection. In this study, the seismic performance of integral and conventional bridge is compared. For this purpose,one existing conventional bridge with eleven spans is selected and then an integral bridge with equivalent materialproperties and cross section is considered. The structural modeling and seismic analysis of integral and conventionalbridges are done using the software SAP 2000. Response spectrum method is used for the analysis. The results of theanalysis reveals that integral bridges has superior seismic performance compared to conventional bridges and by usingintegral bridges the cross section of members can be reduced thus resulting economy.
