  • 摘要:An experimental study is conducted to find the effect of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS)and Sisal fibers on mechanical properties of black cotton soil. In the initial the basic properties of black cotton soil andsisal fiber were found out. The first phase of the work includes effect of GGBS on compaction characteristics of blackcotton soil. The next phase focuses on the unconfined compressive strength and CBR values of mixture of black cottonsoil and optimum dosage of GGBS randomly reinforced with varying percentage of sisal fibers. The work also focuseson change in unconfined compressive strength and CBR value with curing period. The results indicated that withaddition of GGBS to black cotton soil the maximum dry density increased and optimum moisture content decreased.The unconfined compressive strength and CBR values increased addition of sisal fiber to mixture of black cotton soiland optimum dosage of GGBS. The highest result was obtained for mixture of black cotton soil and optimum dosage ofGGBS with 0.75% of sisal fibers. The Unconfined compressive strength and CBR values increased with curing period.
