  • 摘要:Mixed alkali alkaline earth oxide borate glasses of composition (15-x)Li2O-(15-x)K2O-(15-x)MgO-(15-x)BaO-(40+4x)B2O3 with x = 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10 mol% were prepared bymelt quenching method. X-ray diffractionsstudies on all the glass samples were made recorded at room temperature. Peak free X-ray spectra confirmed theamorphous nature of the glasses. Spectroscopic studies like Optical absorption and FTIR are carried out at roomtemperature.Optical absorption spectra are recorded in the wavelength range from 200nm -1000nm.From the opticalabsorption studies the values of the optical band (Eopt) for indirect, direct transition and Urbarch energy (ΔE) have beenevaluated. The values of Eopt, ΔE and density also show non linear behaviour with the compositional parameter, whichalso support the mixed alkali-alkaline effect in the present glass system.From FTIRspectra it isevident that presentglasses consists of trigonal BO3 and tetrahedral BO4 structural units. The band~1360 cm-1 indicated the presence oftetrahedrally coordinated boron in the glass structure. The bands at 924cm-1and 1024cm-1 suggest the presence of tri,tetra, penta and diborate units of BO4 groups. The absence of band ~806cm-1indicated the absence of boroxol rings inpresent glass system. The bands around 694cm-1might be due to formation of bridges by oxygen between twotrigonalatoms.
