摘要:In the present investigation, the activated carbon was prepared from tea dust material and utilized for theremoval of Basic violet-14 from aqueous solution. The experimental studies were carried out in a batch mode byvarying the parameters such as initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, temperature and pH. The experimental datawere analyzed by both kinetic and isotherm models. Pseudo second order kinetics was well fitted than first orderkinetics with the rate constants in the range of 1.286X10-4 to 1.653X10-4gmg-1 min-1. Maximum dye removal wasobserved at pH=3.05. Thermodynamic parameters calculated for the adsorption of Basic Violet-14 and observed thatthe adsorption was spontaneous and endothermic with negative G0 ranges from -1.75 to -5.03 KJ/mol and the positiveH0 value ranges from 20- 26 KJ/mol. Hence the prepared TWAC was an alternate to commercial activated carbon andalso effective for the removal of BV-14 from aqueous solution.
