  • 摘要:A Polyurethane/Buckypaper sensor was prepared by curing polyurethane upon Buckypaper. Cantileverbeam free vibration test method was adopted to investigate the damping properties of such composites. It was foundthat the damping ratio of the Polyurethane/Buckypaper composites is higher than each of their individual components.Also, the location of the sample vis-à-vis the location of the cantilever beam’s fixed support played a very importantpart in the damping ratio. Tests results showed that when the sensor is placed at the clamped end for both single sideattached and double sided attachment, the damping ratios are 1.6-2.1 times higher than their counterpart values forbeams clamped at the free, uncovered end. Also, the double sided attachment model has higher damping ratio comparedwith single sided attachment model. Furthermore, the static tensile strain sensing and the dynamic strain sensing testsresults showed that the PU/Buckypaper sensor has linear strain sensing capabilities and has the ability to dynamicallysense input signals well, and therefore, has the potential to serve as a generalized lightweight sensor.
