摘要:Stabilization of subgrade soil is prime concern in any highway project. In the present scenario theenvironmentalists are very much concerned about the growing use of polyethylene terephathalate (PET) bottles bypeople in their daily life. This paper is aimed on studying the effect on engineering properties of soil by addition ofrecycled polyethylene terephathalate (PET) fibers. The engineering properties especially to be studied are shearstrength, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and Atterberg limit using clay soil. The recycled PET fiber was added in theclayey soil in the proportion ranging from 0% to 0.8% by weight of soil with an increment of 0.2%. The variouslaboratory tests were performed. Experimental investigations show that there was an improvement in shear strength andCBR value and decrease in plasticity index. Optimum quantity of recycled PET fiber which showed favorable strengthwas found to be 0.6% .
