摘要：there is a wide range of applications in video retrieval and indexing grabbing researcher's attention. The following paper includes tutorial as well as a description of the background to common approaches in visual content-based video retrieval and indexing. The focal point is on the mechanisms of video shot boundary detection, key frame extraction, structure analysis, and scene segmentation, along with extraction of key frame features, static features, motion features, object features, video data mining, video annotation, video retrieval, including similarity measure, query interfaces, relevance feedback, and video browsing. Ultimately, directions for future work will be proposed.
