摘要：The Central Cooperative Banks have progressed remarkably on all the fronts, be it profits, deposits, loans and advances, but it is a matter of great distress that all the Central Co- operative Banks are groaning under the weight of mounting NPAs. Recovery of loans to the banking agency is as important as credit to agriculture. But today, NPAs have given a big jolt to many cooperative banks by eroding their capital base and thus endangering their viability. This problem has been highlighted by various committees such as Datey Committee, Committee on Land Development Banks , ACRC popularly known as Khusro Committee. In this paper, an attempt has been made to evaluate the nature, extent and inter-sectoral position of non-performing advances in the selected District Central Cooperative Banks in Punjab for the period 2001-2010.
