摘要：The present study aimed to identify the perceptions of students, tutors and others involved in teaching and distance learning, on the impacts of the use of information technology and communications at the Federal University of Sergipe, in order to realize the how this use contributes to the construction of knowledge in distance education. The theme gets more space because of its specificity. In terms of its methodology, the study was described as exploratory and descriptive. Questionnaires were applied online and in person with students and distance tutors, and interviews with the ones involved with the direction and coordination of distance learning in Federal University of Sergipe. Through data analysis and perception of the sample, it was concluded that the use of information technology and communication applied in distance education contribute to the construction of knowledge, while stimulating the interaction between those involved in it; however, it was also perceived the need for clarification on this type of education so that the peculiarities of it in relation to mainstream education are identified and problems are solved.
