摘要:On January 1, 2015 a statutory minimum wage was introduced in Germany. TheArbeitsmarktspiegel shows several important developments of the German labourmarket since its introduction. While overall employment in Germany continues toshow a positive trend, the number of exclusively marginal part-time employeesdrops markedly at the turn of the year. This effect is strongest in industries and regionswith a low average wage level. A little more than half of the decrease can beexplained by persons changing directly into exclusively employment subject to socialsecurity. Yet, the data also show an increased amount of exits out of the labourmarket or at least out of the group of persons covered by the data. Transitions intounemployment play a rather secondary role in explaining the decline of marginalemployment. The number of employees receiving additional benefits according to Social CodeBook II slightly decreases after the introduction of the minimum wage. For thisgroup, both the transitions into employment without benefit receipt as well as intoexclusive benefit receipt are slightly increased.
