摘要:Sudden occurrence of an earthquake and itsharmful consequences is very well known phenomenon to allof us. It is an abrupt and severe natural disaster across theworld, resulting in the loss of immense wealth and population.Therefore, there is an urgent need of earthquake detectionsystem. P-wave arrival time estimation in earthquake warningsystem is the basic problem that the geologists andseismologists face around the world. In earlier days, P-wavearrival time identification and detection was very timeconsuming and only skilled and efficient seismologists couldperform this work. But in the era of information andcommunication technology, this work is done with the help ofconsistently improving technology and better analysistechniques. The decision of the exact arrival time of P wave inearthquake warning system can be used to determine theepicenter, magnitude, etc. of an earthquake in real time. Thispaper describes the comparative analysis of different timefrequencyspectral techniques i.e. short time fouriertransform, continuous wavelet transform and discrete wavelettransform on earthquake data for P-Wave detection.
