摘要：The purpose of this research is to analyze the unemployment in Maharashtra. Maharashtra is the third largest state with total geographical area of 9.4% of India. There are about 42 lakh unemployed in state with an addition 5,lakh per year. In Maharashtra there are two type of unemployment: Rural unemployment - Maharashtra rural unemployment rate is 2.7% of India. Urban unemployment - Maharashtra urban unemployment rate is 4.8% of India. The causes of unemployment are rapid population growth, limited land, excessive use of foreign technology, etc. The effects of unemployment are rise in poverty, loss of human resource, social unrest etc. The research paper has given measures to solve the unemployment by population control, reforms in education policy, rapid industrialization etc. and there are some special programs organize by Maharashtra government.
