  • 摘要:Female genital mutilation also called by different name as female genital cut and is one of the backward cultural practices which are still upheld by some tribal communities in developing countries. It is a backward practice in terms of it benefits and contributions to the modern societies in terms of development. There has been a lot of debate on this issue with regard to pros and cons of FGM. However, in many societies, it is done to young girls of below 18 years who cannot defend their right of saying “NO” because of age factor, and the fact that it is a requirement from their parents in which they do not have a right to question. The case in Sierra Leone is similar to the Kenyan situation. However, the Kenyan situation is on very small magnitude in comparison to Sierra Leone where FGM is entrenched within some tribal communities due to the Society formations
