  • 摘要:Sustainability, as a term, evolved from the concept of sustainable development. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations. Sustainable development is high on the agenda in more and more countries in the world during this current era due to significant environment, social and economic problems and opportunities. It is widely believed that higher education is the route to implanting sustainable lifestyles into society and teachers are directly linked to society in many ways. The National Knowledge Commission (NKC) has observed that teachers are the single most important element of the school system and their training is a major area of concern. Therefore, it is important to know that how do teacher educators and future teachers perceive sustainability? What they think toward sustainability and its need in teacher education curriculum. This information provides a sense of pupil teacher needs, wants and expectations for courses that incorporate sustainability topics. In the study, an online questionnaire was also used to gather information. On the basis of result obtained, it is recommended to incorporate sustainability issues/education for sustainable development in various teacher education programs.
