摘要：To characterize neonatal congenital abnormalities presented in a health institution Santa Marta Colombia from 2007 to 2011. Descriptive, retrospective, quantitative study. Data collection was done through review of medical records, according to the variables requested in a format designed and validated by expert judgment. Characteristics of the infant, birth, congenital anomaly present, paternal and maternal history and antenatal variables and reporting on public health were studied. The study was conducted with a purposive sample of 55 cases of infants who met the selection criteria. They were identified as congenital defects of the cardiovascular system (54.54%), central nervous system (18.18%). No respiratory or genitourinary malformations were recorded. Females (85%), the majority of normal weight and born at term. No notification to public health was evident; Four infants had multiple malformations associations. Frequent neonatal congenital abnormalities affecting the cardiovascular and neurological systems, no abnormalities of the urinary and respiratory systems were evident. 7 died shortly after birth.
