摘要：Problems of interrelations of the Orthodox Church and cinematography in pre-revolutionary Russia are considered. Analyzing the repertoire of movie theaters, problems of distribution, the Holy Synod’s decrees and police circulars about the cinematograph, the author comes to the conclusion that the Orthodox Church considered the cinematograph an evil, corrupting youth and attracting people away from religion, It used to build relations with this new kind of art through prohibitions and couldn't succeed in using the potential of the cinematograph in its activities.
