摘要:Introduction: People are increasingly looking for bodybuilding academies seeking aesthetic improvements and health. However, individuals living in these environments, usually associate gain muscle mass consumption "extra" protein spreading excessive consumption of protein supplements. Objective: To analyze the daily protein intake of bodybuilders and the difference between groups that use and do not use protein supplementation. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire with 26 bodybuilders in four academies central Guarapuava - PR. All participants were male, over 18 years and who practiced the sport for at least 6 months. Results: The consumption of supplements was observed in 69.23% of respondents, with the most protein supplements consumed. As for protein intake was observed that 50% drank above recommended. Differences were statistically significant for total energy expenditure and lipid between the groups who used protein supplements or not. Conclusion: Due to the high consumption and lack of knowledge among users is necessary to work permanently in the multidisciplinary team of nutritionists academies.
