摘要：Summary The focus of the article is the Christian anthropology, particularly the creation of the man. In the first part of the article, the biblical foundations of the Christian anthropology are presented, according to the Book of Genesis and Pauline writings. In the second part, the development of Christian anthropology is outlined, accentuating the Pauline anthropology, which is the basis for the further development of the theological thought in Patristic times. This is particularly important during early Christian times, when the Christian thought encountered the philosophies and dualistic anthropological understandings of Hellenism, and the newly formed Gnosticism. The further development of the anthropological thought is delineated, with the understanding of man in the light of contemporary natural sciences, and challenges and possibilities stemming from the encounter of the natural sciences and Christian faith in understanding the man and his creation. Finally, the current role and duty of Christian theology is evaluated, in an attempt to answer the contemporary questions of man in the light of biblical anthropology.
