摘要：Kamala Das (also known as Kamala Madhavikutty and Kamala Suraiya) has contributed to Indian English literature by opening a new vision of human nature, man-women relationship and socio political consciousness. She wrote chiefly of memories of childhood, emotional vacuity, love and betrayal & the consequent anguish and her failure to achieve such a relationship. In her extremely personal poems, she wrote about sexuality and longing for love in such a way which was never written before by Indo-Asian women authors. She has the anger, the frankness and the willingness to confront the unpleasant in personal relationships as well as the social. Quest for love and the failure to find emotional fulfilment through true love is the central theme of her poetry which is rooted through her own personal experiences
