The hip fracture in elderly group is progressively increasing nowadays and it is very difficult to establish the treatment plan because of its high mortality and morbidity incidence. So, the aim of the treatment must be stressed on the prevention of the fatal complication such as the pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and the decubitus ulcers in long term hospitalifation and the bed-ridden state.
In this aspect, the early ambulation and the excercise are essential in elderly hip fracture.
In recent days, two large groups of the treatment methods are introduced. That is to say, the internal fixation and the primary hip arthroplasty. So, we reviewed the results of 58 cases of the elderly hip fracture patients treated by either internal fixation and arthroplasty at Wonju Christian Hospital.
The results obtained from above patients in the review of the operation time. perioperative blood loss, start time of partial weight bearing, hospital stay time, complication and hip function one year after the operation by Harris hip Scoring System were as follow ;
