摘要:The study sought to interrogate the alignment of the university’s curriculumto industrial practice and establish the factors that compromised effectiveimplementation of the work-related learning (WRL) programme from a mentors’perspective. The study employed a qualitative research design and the studyparticipants were selected through the purposive sampling technique. The data wassolicited through unstructured interviews and the interviewees comprised nineacademic mentors and twenty four company mentors. The study established that thekey factor that caused the misalignment between the university’s curriculum andindustrial practice was the lack of collaboration between the academic mentors andcompany mentors during course design. It also established that the main factors thataffect the effective implementation of the WRL programme were ineffectivecommunication of the university curriculum to the company mentors and poorcollaboration between the academic mentors and the company mentors duringsupervision and assessment of the students’ performance.
