摘要:The differences between higher education and adult education are apparent above all in their target groups and didactic models. While universities take full-time students who are "provided with material" as their starting point, adult education providers see themselves as a part of a long tradition dealing with heterogeneous participant structures. Yet the spectrum of the responsibilities of the universities has expanded, thereby starting the search for new forms for offerings and teaching formats. Above all, academic continuing education in the service of adults faces many challenges such as how to make knowledge compatible with contexts specific to life and career, correlate teaching and learning processes and take the learning environment into account. This article describes from an organizational perspective how a culture of adult education oriented toward demands and participants can help develop continuing education at an academic level. It closes with specific remarks and recommendations. (Ed.)
