Fourteen cases were treated with primary bipolar hemiarthroplasty and eighteen cases were treated with compression hip screw at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Pusan City Medical Center from June 1991. to June 1993. The results obtained were as follows;
1. In the bipolar hemiarthroplasty group, rehabilitation was easier and faster, and the incidences of pressure sore, pulmonary infection & atelectasis were significantly lower.
2. The early walking with full weight bearing that the bipolar hemiarthroplasty made possible is considered to be a major contributing factor to those results.
