摘要：In this paper human settlement detection using SPOT data in arid environments is addressed, with stress on informal settlement analysis. We show that a proper use of spatial patterns may improve the delineation of the extent of these areas and the discrimination between formal and informal settlements. A comparison with existing global data sets shows the potentials of this approach for human settlement mapping in arid environments
