摘要:In the frame of the new 'CIPA, Heri tage, Documentation' t as k group dedicat ed to underwater photogrammetry three laborat ories from different dis ci plines have s tarted to work toget her. W e pres ent here a work i n progres s on an underwater excavation of a Roman imperial wreck locat ed in Secche della Melori a, in front of L ivorno, It aly. Secche dell a Mel oria have always represented a tough peril for sailing, but also a due pas s age in Northwes tern Tyrrenian courses, wit h a particul ar regard for t hos e around Por tus P isanus . The s urveys led by Sopri ntendenza per i B eni Ar cheologici della Tos cana ( Nucl eo Operativo Subacqueo) from 1993 to nowadays, enabled t o local ize two Roman imperi al wrecks (among the other findings ), conventi onally named Melori a B and C, or Dolia W reck and Mar bl es W r eck. The Dol ia W r eck, situated at the center of the Secche, s hows a concentration of dolia wal l and lip fragments spread on about 9x6 meters area, part on the s and bottom and part hi dden by pos idonia (Pos idonia oceanica) bus hes at 6 met ers depth. The larger fragments concentrat ion is placed cl os e by t he posidonia, whose roots reach 2 meters height, maybe hiding part of the cargo load; ot her doli a large fragments have been found under a thin sand l ayer, clos e by the posi doni a. Hull plank wooden elements showed up under a lip fragment; they s eem to be als o under the ware concent rati on. The Sopr intendenz a per i Beni Ar cheologici della Toscana is s tarting the archaeologi cal excavati on with a t hree-dimensi onal modeling program of thi s si te. Three main goals were followed i n thi s work. The first one i s to record data before the next st ep of the excavation, whi ch will be s urely des tructive. The photogrammetric approach is particularly relevant by the us e of bot h geomet rical data and qualit ative data coming from t he use of the photograph. The second goal is to i nsert, in the three D model obtained, t hree D repres entati on of some dolia large fragments currently not present on the s ite for different reas ons and, on the other hand, to ins ert s ome repres entation of entire dolia funded bot h on s ome measured fragment and archaeol ogical hypothes is regarding t he dolia cl as sificat ion. The third goal is to obtain a three D repres ent ation of the s ite us able as an interface between geometrical representat ion and a large s et of archaeological data
