摘要:GIS services can be classified into geodata services and geoprocessing services. Most on-line GIS service systems provide centralized geodata services based on a client/server co mputing architecture. However, in many cases, geodata are stored and managed on the client side and clients only require GIS function tools to process their data, for example, tools for data conversion, map projection or data editing. In this paper a new approach to supporting on-line geoprocessing is proposed. A distributed geoprocessing service model is designed based upon a open object architecture. It allows users to assemble, access or "rent" geoprocessing components that are distributed across a network via any standard browsers. With this model, both distributed data and GIS processing recourses can be integrated in a way that users are able to access GIServices on the Internet
