摘要:Integration of digital stereo images into GIS databases offers new possibilities for the end-users. This paper studiesthe requirements of astereo workstation needed in this utilization. The basic requirements of a stereo workstation arethe capability for stereoscopic viewing and possibility to do precise 3D measurements. Especially in the GISenvironment the demand to display and edit vector formatted 3D data as conveniently as possible becomes important.Implementation of a stereo workstation allows a variety of solutions both in hardware and in functional sense.Nowadays stereo displays are off-the-self products and they can be added to the existing graphic workstations.General guidelines for a stereo workstation design are given and implementation of an experimental stereoworkstation is discussed.
