摘要:Decision-makers depending on geo-information are oftenconfronted with too many data. The problem is then how toextract relevant information on how to eliminate the relevantdata. The problem is then how to extract relevantinformation and how to eliminate irrelevant data. Selection,generalisation and aggregation of data in a given context(decision framework) are the tools that need to beunderstood by the user in order to have faith in the resultingdecisions. The paper argues that this is not possible withouta consistent theory on geo-information. This theory describesthe structural and semantic aspects of geo-informationincluding aspects of uncertainty. The theory gives aframework for the development of methods and techniquesfor data modelling, for data processing and for dealing withuncertainty of geo-data.
