摘要：Since the SPOT-l satellite was launched in 1986 SPOT images have been used for mediums cal e top 0 g rap h i c map pin gin va rio usc 0 u 'n t r i e s bot h i n ex per i men tal 1 eve 1 and pro d u c t ionlevel However. traditional photogrammetric techniques are not always applicable forSPOT image mapping. because there exist big differences between aerial photographs andSPOT images. In order to establish practical techniques for topographic mapping usingSPOT images it is essential to standardize specification and procedure. In this regard.the Mi ni stry of Constructi on of Japan and the I nsti tuto Geografi co Naci onal of Peru haveconducted a joint research from 1987 to 1990 aiming to develop and establish practicalmethods mainly applicable for medium scale mapping in developing countries.As results of the four year study. draft of "Standard Procedur.e and Specification ofTopographic Mapping using SPOT imagery" and "Manual for SPOT Image Interpretation" wereobtai ned. Those documentati ons are expected to be used for overseas mappi ng andtechnology transfer programs in IntGrnational Cooperation Aids of Japan
