摘要:During the last decade, the rainfall eroded large amount of soil surface of the Ethiopean Highlands. The mainreason of that was the drought years that covered most of the North Eastern part of the African Continent. Theclimate of the Ethiopian Highlands is based upon atmospheric circulation which follows the tropical division (Hurstet al., 1931). The main objective of this research is to determine the relationship between rainfall amounts andthe cloud coverage area. The Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) scenes were used to determinethe cloud coverage areas. The regression analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between thesetwo variables. Results offer a new tool for rainfall determination from cloud coverage, which extracted fromspace Imageries
