摘要：This paper discusses the application of LANDSAT-TM images as anauxiliary tool for mineral prospecting in the Tin Province ofGoias, Central Brazil. Six granitoid massifs have been studiedthrough multispectral/multiseasonal analysis of digitally enhancedimages. The presence of locally specific geobotanicalassociation has permitted the discriminatioll of albitized/greisenized facies in these granitoids. These metasomaticallyaltered facies are important as lithological crnltrol of significanttin (cassiterite) mineralization in the region. Field checkhas indicated the occurrence of cassiterite in most of thetarget areas identified by the study. This fact has allowed toproduce accurate maps which show potentially mineralized areasfor each granitoid. Prospection for primary tin deposits in theregion should be directed to specific target areas, which representless than 5% of the total surface of the granitoids,resulting in substantial saving in time and cost
