摘要:Geometric distorsions of MSS images are determined and described byapplying an interpolation function (nonparametric so l ution vialeast squares interpolation). This is made possible by involving dataon control points (identical points of the MSS image and of therectification base (=map, orthophoto)) . The solution can be improvedby adding data on tie points (identical points of two adjacentMSS strips) so to assure a possible good continuity of the rectifiedimage. The rectification itself can be performed e i ther digitally(re-arranging image pixels in a general purpose computer,input=magtape, output=magtape) or optically (differential imagetransformation with the orthophoto instrument Avioplan OR1, input=film,output=film) . The block is created in the process of re -arrangingpixels in the digital case, and by manual mosaicing of the individualrectified images in the optical case. The capability of dividingthe block into sub- blocks enables the handling of large quantitiesof data.
