摘要：The purpose of this paper i s to convey to users and potential users ofphotogrammetry , as well as to photogrammetrists, the photogrammetric poten ti als of non-metric cameras vis - a- vis metr ic cameras . A listing of practicall y all currently ava il ab le metric cameras (s in gle and stereometri c) i sgiven , together with some of their pertinent characteri sti cs . The role ofnon-metric cameras in cl ose -range photogrammetry i s outl ined . The precautionsto be taken in connecti on with the use of non-metric cameras are stressed,and some of the data reduction schemes for non-metric photography aredi scussed . Conc l us i ons from theo reti cal studies are mentioned, and resultsof experi menta l research and practical works are referred to .
