摘要：To develop the usefulness of plants as bio indicators requires an appropriate selection of plants species whichentail an utmost importance for a particular situation. In the present article a solution is clearly explained aimed atincreasing eco friendly vegetation which not only decreases the magnitude of air pollution, moderates the temperature butalso increases the greenery and comfort of urban atmosphere. In order to suggest suitable vegetation Vijayawada urbanconglomeration is divided into 6 zones based on the type of soil, availability of water, whether the zone is commercial,industrial or residential and the intensity of air pollution. Two zones especially the banks of three canals which are runningthrough the city and the slopes of the hills surrounding the city are also considered for suitable vegetation.
