摘要:The application of composites to automobiles has seen tremendous growth over the last two decades andthe chief reason for this being the higher specific strength, specific modulus and stiffness that these materials possesswhen compared to conventional materials used in the manufacture of automobiles. In this paper the laminatedwindshield of a car has been analysed using finite element method. The windshield is made of two layers of glass witha layer of PolyVinylButryl (PVB) in between them. The linear static analysis of three windshield models has beencarried out using appropriate finite elements in ANSYS software. The stresses acting at various locations including theinterface have been obtained. The impact analysis of the equivalent isotropic windshield model has been carried outusing the software L-S DYNA. Four different cases have been analysed based on the type of material and impact speed.
