摘要:A systematic kinetic study on the oxidation of histidine by peroxomonosulphate (PMS) in acetic acidsodiumacetate buffered medium (pH 3.6-4.8) and the catalytic effect of copper(II) was investigated. EPR spectral dataruled out the involvement of free radical intermediate. Formation of copper – histidine – PMS complex was establishedby cyclic voltammetric and UV –visible absorption studies. NMR studies confirmed that the product formed in thisreaction was imidazole -4-acetaldehyde. A suitable mechanism was proposed.
