  • 摘要:Industry demands reliable and accessible reference data on the physical and chemical properties of awide variety of binary mixtures. These data are required in the development of models for process design, energyefficiency and in the evaluation of possible environmental impacts. The study of molecular interaction in the solid -liquid mixtures is of considerable importance in the elucidation of the structural properties of the molecules. Theintermolecular interactions influence the structural arrangement along with the shape of the molecules. The componentscapable of undergoing specific interaction exhibit significant deviation from ideal behaviour, arising not only from thedifference in molecular size and shape but also due to the structural changes. Speed of sound have been measured as afunction of composition for binary mixtures of stearates (zinc stearate and calcium stearate) and ethylene glycol werestudied along with density and viscosity values, a comprehensive understanding of the molecular interactions in thebinary mixture is thus only possible from the measurements of various physico – chemical properties and treating theexcess functions derived there from [1]. Inspite of this interesting consideration, the concrete studies on the excessfunctions of zinc stearate – ethylene glycol and calcium stearate – ethylene glycol mixtures are studied. The resultshave been discussed in terms of molecular interactions. The aim of this work was also to find out if there are anystructural peculiarities in solutions of stearate and glycol.
