  • 摘要:Traditionally electric power sector hadover all activities in generation, transmission and also indistribution of power within its domain of operation. Suchutilities referred to as vertically integrated utility(VIU).Due to continuous increase in industrialization andurbanization there is need of electrical energy. This givesrise into rapid growth of power system. The main focus ofengineers to reshape three components of VIU. Therestructuring is used to increase customer focus, powersystem performance and reduce the cost revenue.Congestion is one of the technical issue in power systemrestructuring. In restructured power system transmissioncongestion occurs when there is insufficient transmissioncapacity to simultaneously accommodate all constraintsfor transmission of a line. This paper proposes to relievecongestion using TCSC device without affecting oneconomic matter. Further a methods to determine theoptimal location of TCSC has been suggested based onreduction of total system reactive power loss.
