摘要:The Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) isan important tool for monitoring and control of the powersystem. It gives real time, synchronized measurements ofvoltages at the buses and also current phase values whichare incident to those buses where these PMUs are located.This paper presents a topological approach to determinethe optimal PMU placement in order to make the systemcompletely observable using binary integer linearprogramming. The proposed formulation istested onvarious IEEE test systems and results so obtained forcomplete observability of system at normal condition andwith loss of single PMU are also presented in this paper.The proposed PMU placement has been implemented onIEEE -14, 30, 57 and 118 bus systems, practical 75-bussystem of Utter-Pradesh State Electricity Board (UPSEB)and New England 39-bus system.
