  • 摘要:Congestion in the transmission lines isone of the technical problems that appearparticularly in the deregulated environment. Thereare two types of congestion managementmethodologies to relieve congestion in transmissionlines. One is non-cost free methods and another iscost-free methods, among them later methodrelieves the congestion technically whereas theformer is related more with the economics. In thispaper congestion is relieved using cost free method.Among the various cost free methods, use ofFACTS devices method is considered in this paper.The unified power flow controller (UPFC)integrates properties of both shunt and seriescompensations, and can effectively alter powersystem parameters in a way that increases powertransfer capability and stabilizes system. The abovemethod is tested on modified IEEE 30-bus systemand it can be readily extended to any practicalsystems.
