摘要:Due to its clean and renewable nature,wind energy is becoming one of the importantrenewable sources of energy in the world. Through itscollaboration with other renewable sources of energy,such as solar energy, the world energy crises can besolved in the future. Comparatively with the past anddue to the progressive integration of the nonlinearloads in the grid, the principal role of a Wind EnergyConversion System (WECS) is not only to capture themaximum power from the wind, but also to improvethe quality of power. Consequently, with thedevelopment of the wind farms which are integratedinto the grid, power quality could be better improvedin the future. Variable speed wind generators arefrequently used and are more attractive than fixedspeedsystems because of their efficient energyproduction, improved power quality and dynamicperformance during grid faults. Recently, the most ofthe wind energy conversion systems are equipped witha variable speed Doubly Fed Induction Generator.Many works are done about power generation andpower quality improvement using a WECS. In thispaper, Bacterial foraging optimization algorithm(BFOA) is used which has been widely accepted as aglobal optimization. BFOA is inspired by the foragingbehaviour of Escherichia coli. BFOA has drawn theattention of researchers because of its efficiency insolving real-world optimization problems arising inseveral application domains. It is used to obtain tunedproportional gain and integral gain, so that the powerquality can be improved..
